A photograph taken by Philippe Parreno depicts the artist delivering a two-hour lecture to a colony of penguins. The artwork illustrates the fact that, sometimes, despite our best intentions, language fails us. This ring captures both Parreno's surrealist scene and its intent. Cradled by an open gold vermeil band, a baroque pearl monolith sits opposite a crowd of freshwater pearls, separated by an abyss of skin.
