According to Ancient Greek myth, Nerites was a minor sea deity, and lover to both Aphrodite and Poseidon. When Aphrodite asked him to leave the sea with her, he refused. As punishment for his transgression, Nerities was transformed into a shellfish. These wax-cast hoop earrings draw inspiration from the demi-god’s plight. Their coiled shape recalls the whorl of a seashell: Nerities final form.
