Between 1621 and 1622, artist Bernini created what is believed to be the most life–like sculpture of the Renaissance era. His work Ratto di Proserpina features some of the most supple skin — and the most fleshly grip — ever put to marble. Like Bernini and his cohorts, completedworks' Cushion Vessel explores the deceptive potential of material, conjuring the plushness of a pillow from ceramic.
